There was also Lady Diana to the Met Gala 2022. Indeed, there were two: Emma Corrin and Elizabeth Debicki. The two actresses who played the Princess of Wales in the series The Crownrespectively in season 4 and 5 (available on Netflix starting next fall), they walked the most glamorous red carpet ever, twenty-six years after the original Lady Diana.

It was 1996 when the Princess, with a little royal and very sexy slip dress blue silk signed John Gallianohe kicked for the first and only time in his life the red carpet of the party that marks the vernissage of the annual fashion show of the Costume Institute of the museum (this year is In America: An Anthology of Fashion, at the start for mere mortals on May 7). Three months earlier he had divorce ratified from Prince Charles and tackled what was the most important (and global) public event since the news broke, alone.
The dress by John Galliano then creative director of Dior to which the Met Gala was dedicated that year also represented a ideal, but formal, detachment from the British royal house: nothing more dress code, no more rules and go-ahead even for lace on the décolleté that made you think of an exposed bra. A path of “Freeing the wardrobe” started with the famous revenge dress – worn to an event at the Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens, London, while Carlo on TV confessed to the whole world that he had betrayed her with Camilla – and continued with a gradual change of look and more respectful of his true personality.
