Meta Launches Digital Wallet for the Metaverse

The new Meta Pay Wallet is a rebrand of the existing Facebook Pay system, keeping the previous features and adding new ones focused on the metaverse.

Meta* (formerly Facebook) announced that the digital wallet will support the user economy in the upcoming integration of social networks and the Meta virtual universe. Facebook Pay supports many types of payments. However, now the wallet must specialize in the digital identification of users and proof of ownership.

“In the future, there will be all sorts of digital items that you might want to create or buy – digital clothing, music, art, videos, virtual events, and so on. Proof of ownership will be important, especially if you want to move some of your purchased items to other services,” says CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Ideally, anything bought in one metaverse should ideally be available on other platforms with the same specs and features, says the Facebook creator. This is one of the goals Meta aims to achieve with Meta Pay. Synchronization that allows you to link purchases of digital goods according to a single standard. This, according to Zuckerberg, will provide a better experience for users and greater opportunities for content creators:

“That is, the more different places you can easily use your digital items, the more you will appreciate them, which creates a market with huge potential for creators.”

Zuckerberg expects the Metaverse to be used by billions of people around the world in the future and will become the company’s main source of revenue.
