THE Goal — the company that owns Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp — announced this Wednesday (25) at its Meta Connect 2024 event the launch of a new virtual reality headset: the Quest 3S .
Promising cheaper prices than the brand’s previous devices, the headset works as an entry-level device for mixed reality and immersive experiences. There is still no information about release dates and prices in Brazil.
Highlights of the virtual reality glasses’ features include improved support for 2D applications such as YouTube, Facebook and Instagram, an update to the spatial audio system and more realistic colors.
In a press release, Meta suggested that the device could be used to watch television on a cinema-sized screen, stay in touch with a personal trainer while working out, and even be used on flights when using Travel Mode.
Quest 3S has access to Meta’s library of apps and games, and games will run with the same visuals and faster load times that were available in updates to the previous release, Quest 3.
For the United States, it was announced that the entry price of the tool will be US$ 299.99 — which increases according to the specifics of each version of the device.
If it comes to Brazil with the same value and without considering taxes, the cost of the initial device will be around R$ 1,642.
At the event, the company also announced Orion, the first pair of augmented reality glasses, which use the benefits of a large holographic display and personalized artificial intelligence assistance. Find out all about the new feature.
