According to Meta* CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Instagram will begin testing support for digital collectibles in the form of NFTs as early as this week.
In his publications on the social network Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg said that support for NFT on Instagram will be the first step in introducing collectible tokens into the Meta ecosystem. At the same time, in the future, Instagram will also receive support for “NFT augmented reality”.
Apparently, as part of the testing, Instagram users will be able to use NFT for profile pictures. A similar opportunity was given to users of the social network Twitter at the beginning of the year. A little later, this feature was added by the Reddit Internet forum and the Onlyfans portal for content creators.
It should be noted that the Instagram audience remains one of the largest – according to the Datareportal service, 1.5 billion users are registered in the social network. A recent study by MarketsandMarkets showed that the NFT market could grow to $13.6 billion by 2027.
*The activity of Meta and its social networks in Russia is prohibited by Roskomnadzor.
