CoinDesk, citing its own sources, reports that Meta (recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) will launch a pilot project to integrate non-fungible tokens (NFTs) into the Instagram social network next week.
According to the publication, Meta plans to add support for NFTs released on Ethereum, Polygon, Solana and Flow to Instagram. It is likely that the launch of support for all these blockchain networks will be implemented on the platform gradually.
A limited group of US users will take part in the pilot project.
Meta also intends to integrate Instagram with popular digital wallets like MetaMask. According to CoinDesk, the platform will not charge users fees for hosting and exchanging NFTs.
In January 2022, the Financial Times reported that the corporation plans to integrate NFT into Facebook and Instagram, and is also working on a prototype platform that allows the issuance of these digital assets.
