Right before the New Year, aggregator Metacritic published a list of the worst releases of 2022, demonstrating to the gamer audience that a big name is not enough to succeed and please fans. And yesterday, January 1, the resource specialists published a list of the forty best video games of the past year, which were presented on PC in 2022. It is worth immediately clarifying that this rating was compiled by the aggregator Metacritic based on ratings from specialized journalists, so the ratings of the players were not taken into account. And the opinion of journalists and the audience often differs (and quite strongly), so some projects in the rating may raise questions.
But with the first place, in fact, everything is clear – Persona 5 Royal is located there, which was released in October 2022 and literally in two weeks became the most highly valued game on the PC for the entire existence of the Metacritic aggregator. Soon, however, the score of the game dropped from a sky-high mark of 97 points to 95 points, which guaranteed her a place on the podium of the best releases of last year. In second place is the no less cult game Elden Ring, which is very fond of both gamers and journalists with streamers. But the third place will surprise many – it was given to the Dwarf Fortress sandbox about gnomes, which was created by an independent studio. It is worth noting that this is the only PC exclusive in the entire top – the rest of the games were also released on consoles.
