Metallica celebrates music on Stranger Things: “It’s an incredible honor”

Metallica released a statement on Tuesday (5th) about the fact that the song “Master of Puppets” will be featured in the final season of the series Stranger Things. “It’s an incredible honor,” said the band.

At a critical moment this season, the character Eddie Munson plays the song on guitar.

Participation in Netflix’s biggest franchise saw the band’s 1986 hit once again appear on “most listened” lists.

This Wednesday (6), “Master of Puppets” is the 14th most listened to song in the world on Spotify. The top is occupied by “Running Up That Hill”, released 37 years ago by British Kate Bush – another song that returned to success because of Stranger Things.

In an Instagram post, Metallica spoke for the first time about participating in the 80s nostalgia series.

“The way the Duffer brothers [diretores da série] have incorporated music into Stranger Things has always been another level. So we were beyond excited to not only include “Master of Puppets” but to have such a pivotal scene built around it,” the band said in a statement.

“We were all excited to see the final result, and when we saw it we were stunned… It’s so extremely well done, so much so that many people were able to guess the song just by looking at Joseph Quinn’s hands for a few seconds in the trailer!! How cool is that?” adds Metallica.

“It’s an incredible honor to be such an important part of Eddie’s journey and to once again keep company with all the other amazing artists who have participated in the series,” the statement concludes.

Over the weekend, METALLICA bassist Robert Trujillo took to Instagram to express his pride in his son Tye.

It was Tye who recorded the guitar score for “Master of Puppets” used by the directors in the Eddie scene in season four.
