The Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Tsavousoglu assessed today that his country’s relations with Egypt pass “into a new era”, after years of tensions, reports APE.

“A new era begins”, said Tsavousoglou on the Turkish television network NTV, referring to Turkey-Egypt relations.

After years of severing diplomatic relations, Ankara has been embarking on a charming offensive for several months to attract Cairo.

Tsavousoglu and his Egyptian counterpart had a telephone conversation on Saturday and exchanged wishes for Ramadan, in their first direct contact since efforts to restore diplomatic relations began.

On the same day, an Egyptian journalist known for his harsh criticism of the Egyptian regime operating on an Istanbul-based television network was placed on “indefinite leave” after Turkey asked Egyptian opposition media outlets to operate in the area. the tones towards Cairo.
