Mexican president threatens to boycott US summit if not all countries are invited

Mexican President Manuel Lopez Obrador has said he will not attend the US-hosted summit in June unless all continents are invited, and has warned that he will replace Secretary of State Marcelo Ebrard.

During a regular press conference given by Lopez Obrador, a few days after his trip to Havana, he noted that his absence from this Summit to be held in Los Angeles is unlikely to cause tensions with the United States.

U.S. officials have said that Nicaragua, Cuba and the government of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro are unlikely to be invited to the summit.

“If they are excluded, if not everyone is invited, a representative of the Mexican government will go, but not me,” said Lopez Obrador.
