Two people died on Sunday after attacks on polling stations in the central Mexican state of Puebla during elections, a local government security source told AFP. One of the victims died when unknown persons entered a polling station in Coyomeapan to steal voting documents, while the other was killed in a shootout following an attack on a polling station in Tlapanala, the person said. Violence has marked the election campaign: at least 25 candidates (according to official federal government figures) have been killed in the country, which is plagued by drug cartel violence and is also the US's largest trading partner worldwide. The favorite of the presidential elections is the candidate of the center-left coalition, Claudia Sheinbaum of the Movement for National Renaissance (MORENA) party.
