The Civil Police of Minas Gerais is also investigating the causes of the plane crash that killed the singer Marília Mendonça and four other people last Friday (5) in Piedade de Caratinga, in the interior of the state.
This Saturday (6), the police heard the lawyer for Marília Mendonça’s family to gather information about the aircraft that was carrying the singer and her team. ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency) had already issued a note stating that the twin-engine was regulated and had authorization to operate as an air taxi.
The forensic work on the aircraft was carried out at the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (Cenipa), which continues to collect evidence at the scene of the accident.
The Civil Police of Minas Gerais is now awaiting data from the autopsy carried out by the IML (Institute of Legal Medicine) of Belo Horizonte to find out if there are other causes for the death of the five passengers other than the trauma of the plane crash.
The deadline for the results to be ready is 15 days, but the final report should only be delivered within 30 days.
The accident
The aircraft fell into a watercourse near an access road on the BR-474 highway. Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais (Cemig) reported that the plane hit power cables at a company’s distribution tower in Caratinga.
This Saturday, Cemig informed that the tower hit by the aircraft is outside the protection zone of the Caratinga Aerodrome.
As informed by the analyst of CNN Basilia Rodrigues, the system used by the pilot did not show the wire network. However, it is not discarded that the pilot, experienced in the profession, could have knowledge from another source of the existence of the threads, which only the FAB investigation will verify.
In a statement, the company PEC Táxi Aéreo, which owns the aircraft, informed that the aircraft was approved by the National Aviation Agency (Anac) for passenger air transport and “was fully airworthy”.
“The crew engaged in the operation had great flight experience and was also properly trained by Anac, with all training updated. The weather conditions were favorable”, says the note.
“The causes of the event are still uncertain and will be duly investigated by the aeronautical authorities. The PEC is at the disposal of the authorities and will provide the necessary assistance to the victims’ families.”

Singer Marília Mendonça, 26, and her uncle, Abicieli, were buried this Saturday afternoon in Goiânia. The body of producer Henrique Ribeiro was taken to Salvador, Bahia, where it was veiled and buried. The pilot and co-pilot were also veiled in private ceremonies restricted to family members.
The singer’s wake was open to the public and several artists, friends, fans and family attended the ceremony yesterday afternoon at the Goiânia Arena gym.
