The government of Minas Gerais inaugurated, on Tuesday (20), an Integrated Center for Cyber Intelligence (Ciberint). The space is the first focused on acting in the prevention, neutralization and repression of criminal acts related to extremist discourses and violence in schools.
The site was equipped with modern computers, endowed with advanced technology, allowing representatives of different institutions to work in an integrated manner in monitoring social networks, online games, open sources, Deep Web and Dark Web, identifying threats from attacks in schools, as well as combating other virtual crimes .
The project received a contribution of R $ 3 million from the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) after competing with another 700 projects. Ciberint was first and the value was used in the structuring of the localized laboratory.
According to the Minas Gerais government, investment in technology and cyber knowledge to surf in environments commonly used by young people on the Internet will allow to prevent and neutralize such attacks.
Ciberint will also be a research, receiving, treatment and dissemination of complaints among all institutions acting on the subject. The government says it has been working since 2023 to prevent violence in schools, however, the complexity to avoid the use of the Internet in the organization of crimes in schools required more modern resources and Ciberint emerged in this motto, with an agile information sharing between security forces and partner institutions, such as the Minas Gerais Public Prosecution Service (MPMG).
The government also stated that the structure will also be used in investigations after crimes are committed.
“It will be used for this, but our main objective is to identify those young people who are in a situation that requires the performance of the family, justice, medical structures. We already have several cases that have been resolved from our digital effort. So far, 43 cases have been solved and attacks from our police.
Ciberint will operate at the headquarters of the Central Intelligence Agency of the State Secretariat of Justice and Public Security (Sejusp) in the Administrative City, in Belo Horizonte.
