Almost 100 municipalities in Minas Gerais have declared a state of emergency or public calamity due to the storms that have hit the state since September last year. According to Civil Defense, the rainy season has already caused 26 deaths, there are 3,535 homeless people and 417 homeless people who lost their homes due to the impacts, which included flooding and landslides.
This Monday (20), the weather forecast indicates clear to partially cloudy skies in Minas Gerais, with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms in the Northwest, Triângulo Mineiro/Alto Paranaíba, West, South/Southwest, Metropolitan Region and Zona da Mata.
In other regions, the sky should remain between clear and partly cloudy. The temperature remains stable, with a maximum of 36°C and a minimum of 16°C.
In Belo Horizonte, the forecast is clear to partly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms, with a maximum of 31°C and a minimum of 20°C.
The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued a “Potential Danger” warning for intense rain, valid until 10am today, with forecast rainfall between 20 and 50 mm/day and intense winds between 40 and 60 km/h.
Inmet also warns of the low risk of electricity cuts, falling tree branches, flooding and electrical discharges.
