A 20-year-old woman was arrested by the Civil Police of Minas Gerais (PCMG), last Tuesday (21), in Belo Horizonte for attempted murder.
According to investigations, she allegedly threw hot oil on the face of her 15-year-old nephew, who is hospitalized in serious condition.
“The crime occurred on the 14th of this month, in the Nova Esperança neighborhood, Northwest region of the capital, after a disagreement between aunt and nephew due to the disappearance of a cell phone charger.” Delegate Diego Lopes, from the Specialized Police Station for the Protection of Children and Adolescents (Depca), explained.
According to the delegate, after the argument, the suspect left the house but returned moments later without being noticed and committed the crime. “The victim suffered severe burns to his face and remains intubated, unable to give a statement or undergo a forensic examination due to the risk of infection,” added Lopes.
According to investigations, the woman already has a history of disagreements with other family members and records of conflicts with her nephew. “The history of conflicts and the severity of the attack reinforce the classification of the crime as attempted murder with possible intent, that is, when the perpetrator assumes the risk of resulting in death,” said Lopes.
According to the delegate, the woman showed regret during the interrogation, but was unable to justify the extreme violence in a conflict situation for a futile reason.
The suspect was reported to the police by her own family. The arrest took place about a week after the events.
