michael douglas discovered that he shares kinship with Scarlett Johansson . The revelation that the two actors are “DNA cousins ” was made during the program “Finding Your Roots” (“Finding Your Roots”, in free translation), on PBS.
Douglas learned about his relationship with the actress who played Black Widow in the Marvel films this week.
“Are you kidding?” replied Douglas when presenter Henry Louis Gates Jr revealed the relationship. “Wow, this is incredible. That's great. This is so cool.”
Using professional genealogists, it was possible to discover that Douglas and Johansson “share identical stretches of DNA on four different chromosomes”. These lines “appear in Scarlett’s maternal lineage, dating back to the Jewish communities of Eastern Europe.”
“This is incredible,” continued Michael Douglas. “I can’t wait to meet Scarlett again.”
Since 2012, “Finding Your Roots” has uncovered unbelievable connections. In one episode, Julia Roberts and Edward Norton discovered they are genetic cousins, for example. And Kerry Washington received information that she was conceived by a sperm donor.
