Michael Saylor and MicroStrategy accused of tax fraud

Washington Attorney General Carl Racine has filed a lawsuit against Michael Saylor and his former CEO MicroStrategy for tax evasion.

Recently, the District of Columbia, USA, introduced additional provisions to the False Claims Act, which encourages whistle-blowers to report tax evading residents to the authorities, for example, by providing false information about their actual place of residence.

The first lawsuit filed under the recently updated False Claims Act was Washington Attorney General Karl Racine’s lawsuit against Michael Saylor and MicroStrategy for systematic tax evasion.

“Today we are suing Michael Saylor, a billionaire technology executive who has lived in DC for over a decade but has never paid income tax.” declared Racine.

The Washington prosecutor said that not only Saylor, but also his company MicroStrategy will be prosecuted for “assisting hundreds of millions of dollars in tax evasion.” racin open declared on the exemplary nature of the upcoming trial:

“With this lawsuit, we draw the attention of residents and employers to the fact that if you enjoy all the benefits of life in our great city [Вашингтоне]while refusing to pay our fair share of taxes, we will hold you accountable.”

In early August, Michael Saylor stepped down as CEO of MicroStrategy to focus on “Bitcoin acquisition strategy and related BTC security initiatives.” The new CEO is Phone Le, who previously served as president, chief financial officer and chief operating officer.
