A film about the life of the King of Pop Michael Jackson is scheduled to hit theaters in April 2025. Titled “Michael” the biopic will star the singer’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson 27, son of Jackson 5’s Jermaine Jackson.
“I am humbled and honored to bring my Uncle Michael’s story to life. To all the fans around the world, see you soon,” the actor wrote in a post on social media.
The film was filmed between January and May this year. The first official image, which shows Jaafar in character, was released in February. see below.

What will be covered in the Michael Jackson biopic?
According to the production description, “Michael” will show all aspects of the King of Pop’s life.
“Michael will deliver audiences a fascinating and honest portrait of the brilliant and complicated man who became the King of Pop. The film brings his triumphs and tragedies to life on an epic scale – from his human side and personal struggles to his undeniable genius creative talent.”
Who is responsible for “Michael”?
The Michael Jackson biopic is directed by Antoine Fuqua, known for his work on “Training Day” (2001) and “The protector” (2014), and the screenplay is by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan (“Gladiator”, “The Aviator” and “The Invention of Hugo Cabret”).
Production was under the responsibility of Lionsgate and Graham King, also responsible for “Bohemian Rhapsody” (2018), biopic of Freddie Mercury.
The singer’s family is also involved in the production, offering audiences “an in-depth portrait of the man and our brother who became the King of Pop,” a statement from the Jackson family said in February 2022.
