Michelin Guide chooses the 58 best hotels in Thailand

The first selection of Michelin Guide hotels in Thailand distributed one to three keys to a total of 58 properties in the Asian country. Eight hotels received three keys; 19 were left with two and 31 were evaluated with one key. The results were released at the end of September.

Of the total, 17 hotels on the list are in Bangkok capital of Thailand and city with the most properties in the selection. Hotels in Chiang Mai and Phuket, destinations with strong tourist appeal, are also highlights of the relationship.

The key system is similar to the stars given to restaurants: three keys point to an “extraordinary” stay, two guarantee an “exceptional” stay, and hotels with one key offer a “very special” stay.

Five main criteria are followed in the evaluation: excellence in architecture and interior design; quality and consistency of service; personality and general character; cost-benefit; and a significant contribution to the neighborhood.
