O Michelin Guide has officially landed in Florida in the United States, to elect the best restaurants in three main cities: Miami, Orlando and Tampa.
The Guide’s Arrival, which awards stars and top-rated home ratings, is in partnership with the state’s tourism authority, the Visit Florida and represents the fifth Michelin Guide specific destination in the United States – New York, Washington, Chicago and California are other locations that already have their own ratings.
The official announcement was revealed in November last year, but the kick-off was given during IPW 2022, the largest US tourism fair that takes place in Orlando from June 4th to 8th. The starred restaurants, however, will be revealed on the day June 9 after the close of the fair.
On the occasion, the international director of the Michelin Guides, Gwendal Poullennec, reinforced that, in addition to being important world tourist destinations, these cities are also notable gastronomic destinations.
“Miami isn’t just about clubs and beaches, Orlando isn’t just about characters, and Tampa isn’t just about sunsets and nature. There is a very thriving culinary scene in each location,” Poullennec told a press conference.

For Dana Young, CEO of Visit Florida, what makes Florida unique is the diversity of people who call the state home, which is reflected in the cuisine.
“Our kitchen is really an important part of who we are and what we offer our visitors. We know that the presence of the Michelin Guide will take the Florida experience to new heights and will have a major impact on our economy.”
Orlando, for example, stands out with its vegan restaurants and more than 40 international cuisines. Tampa is known for its flavors and local traditions; Miami, on the other hand, has a heritage of Latin flavors, such as those from Cuba and Haiti, as well as being the stage for international culinary events.
