A new development has made waves in the hotel sector: Michelin Guide will distribute keys – instead of the desired stars awarded to restaurants – to the most exceptional hotels in the world.
The more than 5,000 hotels and accommodations evaluated in 120 countries will receive one to three keys according to criteria observed in anonymous visits, they are:
- A destination in itself: the hotel contributes to the local experience;
- Excellence in architecture and interior design;
- Quality and regularity of service, comfort and maintenance;
- Uniqueness that reflects the personality of the establishment, its unique character;
- Consistency between the quality of the experience and the price paid.
“The Michelin Key is a clear and reliable indication for travelers. Just as the Michelin Star distinguishes restaurants that are at the height of their art, Chave recognizes the most exceptional hotels in the world. It is also a recognition of the teamwork of committed and enthusiastic hospitality professionals”, says Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Michelin Guide.
The exact day of the award ceremony has not yet been announced, only that it will be in the first half of 2024.
