The actress took home the award during the 2023 ceremony, becoming the first woman of Asian descent to win the category.
Yeoh won his golden statuette while filming the film that brought the Broadway musical “Wicked” to theaters, and took the trophy to celebrate with his colleagues on set.
“Wicked” is a prelude to the classic “The Wizard of Oz” and follows the story of Elphaba a young woman who, because she has green skin, is misunderstood and still does not know her true power, and of Glinda a popular and ambitious woman who has not yet discovered her true identity.
The film stars Cynthia Erivo (“Harriet” and “The Outsider”) and Ariana Grande (“Brilhante Victória” and “Sam & Cat”). Names like Jonathan Bailey (“Bridgerton“), Jeff Goldblum (“Jurassic Park”) and the Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh (“Everything in Every Place at the Same Time”) are also in the cast.
