Michigan consumer sentiment meets expectations in May, retreating to 82.9

The University of Michigan consumer sentiment index fell to 82.9 in May, as expected, from 88.3 in April. This is the lowest result in three months.

The current economic conditions index has also receded, falling to 89.4 from a previous 97.2. The consumer expectations index is down almost four points, standing at 78.8 from 82.7 the previous month.
