One suspect died and another was arrested during a Military Police operation looking for those responsible for the murder of Corporal Vaneza Lobão, 31 years old. The police officer monitored militia members in Rio de Janeiro.
According to the PM, in today’s action, the agents were shot at by two men who were inside a car, in Cosmos, in the west zone of Rio. There was a confrontation and the suspects crashed the car. One suspect succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. The other was arrested and taken to the local police station.
The agents seized a pistol, two chargers, ammunition, two cell phones and a communication radio from the duo.
Investigations indicate that the dead man was the right-hand man of militiaman “Pipito”, who is deputy head of the militia commanded by criminal Luiz Antônio da Silva Braga, known as Zinho.
This Wednesday (29), another suspect involved in the corporal’s death was arrested in the same neighborhood. Known as “Gordinho”, he is also suspected of being part of Zinho’s militia. A pistol and four magazines were seized from him.
Vaneza was shot dead in front of her home last Friday night (24), in Santa Cruz, West Zone. She was hit when she was in the car. The armed and hooded criminals fled.
Zinho is the most wanted militia member in Rio today. He was allegedly responsible for the attacks that ended with 35 buses being set on fire, as well as a train and BRT stations, last month. The order for the attacks would have occurred after the death of his nephew, Matheus Rezende, known as “Faustão”, in a police action.
