Micron Technology today announced the start of mass production of 16 Gb GDDR6X memory chips, which are already used in Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti graphics cards. The latest GDDR6X memory, which is currently only available from Micron, is twice as dense and 15% faster than its predecessor. The new memory operates at an industry-leading data transfer rate of up to 21Gbps. GDDR6X memory is planned to be released in the future, supporting speeds up to 24 Gb / s.

The high speed is made possible by Micron’s developments in PAM4 signaling technology. The high bandwidth of the new memory makes it the best choice for graphics applications that require exceptionally fast memory with low power consumption. Micron emphasizes that no other manufacturer currently supplies such memory.
