Microsoft creatively warns users against Chrome right before downloading it

Since the launch of Chromium-based Edge, Microsoft has repeatedly tried to lure users away when they intended to use third-party browsers. Now the Redmond giant has gone even further – some people who open the Chrome download page are advised by the branded browser in Windows 11 (and sometimes in Windows 10) to stay with Edge, displaying creative notifications. This was reported by The Verge with reference to Neowin.

All the messages that Edge displays on the Chrome download page are designed in an unusual way: they are not standard toast notifications available to any site, but like native hints from the browser itself. Many of the posts are ironic:

Microsoft Edge runs on the same technology as Chrome, but with the added trust of Microsoft.

This browser is so much from 2008! Do you know which is newer? Microsoft Edge.

Nobody ever said, “I hate saving money.” Microsoft Edge is the best browser for online shopping.
