According to the thematic resource WindowsLatest, this will happen as part of a major update to the design and interface of Windows 10, which is expected in the fall of 2021. The latest Windows 10 21H2 test build for members of the Windows Insiders Program, also known as Sun Valley, is no longer a Windows 95-era icon.

In addition to new icons for File Explorer and system applications, Microsoft has also ditched Windows 95-style icons for hibernation, network, memory, storage, and the like. The new icons resonate well with those already familiar to users from Microsoft 365, Microsoft Launcher, and other products.

The new icons replace the old icons in the libraries of the icons in the Shell32.DLL system module, which is present in all OS versions released after Windows 95. The screenshot compares the icons from Shell32.DLL in Windows 10 Sun Valley Update and Windows 10 October 2020 Update.
