Microsoft Edge wants to be the best browser for gaming. New features have arrived

Edge seems to be in contention for the gaming browser title. Microsoft first integrated cloud gaming into its sites through Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming service, and then moved on to streaming through its browser.

Last November, it became known that the company is working on Clarity Boost technology, which improves image clarity when streaming games on Windows 10 and 11, making the picture better. Streaming almost always loses some data, so this technology should probably solve this problem. Clarity Boost is similar to an image upscaling and sharpening filter. At the same time, Edge should consume a minimum of resources.

Along with Clarity Boost, Microsoft is also pushing the Efficiency Mode feature to further boost gaming performance. This mode disables other browser processes during gaming sessions. It’s been around for a while, but now it’s supposed to work more effectively when paired with Clarity Boost.

The new Edge features will work best with Xbox Cloud Gaming, but it will certainly impact streaming in general. Therefore, you can expect advantages in other services such as GeForce Now.
