Two Microsoft employees who were fired last week after organizing an event for Palestinians dying in Gaza are alleging the company retaliated because of their support for Palestine. Abdo Mohamed, a researcher and data scientist, and Hossam Nasr, a software engineer, organized the event outside Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond, Washington, on October 24, and were fired that evening. “Microsoft actually caved to pressure, internally and externally, to fire me and suppress our event, not because of policy violations, but simply because we dared to humanize the Palestinians and state that Microsoft should not be complicit with an army. which is validly accused of genocide,” said Nasr, who has come under fire on social media and in internal Microsoft employee communications groups for his support for Palestine.
