Five years ago, Skype was a big name in internet calling and video, and Microsoft made it the “inbox” app for Windows 10 that came with the OS during installation and started when the PC was turned on by default.
Now Microsoft has shifted its focus to Microsoft Teams. In Windows 11, chat from Microsoft Teams is already integrated directly into the taskbar. Users can communicate via chats, voice messages and video calls. If the person you want to contact hasn’t installed the Teams app, you can send them an SMS.
Skype is not included in the list of “bundled” applications in Windows 11. However, the fact that Microsoft got rid of Skype with Windows 11 does not mean that the application is no longer available. It’s just that now, if you want to use Skype, you have to find it in the Microsoft Store like any other application.
