Microsoft has postponed an indefinite release of its groundbreaking Windows 10X operating system. This interesting development by Microsoft has not been postponed for the first time and now its fate is uncertain.

According to Petri’s Brad Sams, citing sources “familiar with the company’s plans”, there is little hope for a Windows 10X release in 2021. Moreover, this operating system as we know it now may never hit store shelves.
Microsoft has shifted all of its resources to develop the next major update to Windows 10 – Windows 10 21H2, also known as Sun Valley. Despite the fact that we will not see Windows 10X in the near future, the developments from it will not be lost – some of the interface features and technologies will be implemented in future updates to the “traditional” Windows 10.

Recall that the Windows 10X platform was originally supposed to go to the final stage of RTM (Release To Manufacturers) in the fall of 2020. However, then the release of Windows 10X was postponed and in the summer of 2020 it was reported that we would not see this platform until April-May 2021.
A single-screen version of Windows 10X was expected to debut initially, and a dual-screen version of Windows 10X was expected to be available at a later date.
