Microsoft introduced unusual accessories for people with disabilities

Nearly four years after Microsoft introduced the Xbox adaptive controller, the company has announced a new line of accessories for those who have difficulty using traditional mouse and keyboard controls. This line includes three devices: Adaptive Mouse, Adaptive Buttons and Adaptive Hub. All have been developed in collaboration with the disability community.

The idea of these gadgets is that users can modify them with modular components printed on a 3D printer. Thus, manipulators will match their capabilities and needs. For example, an adaptive mouse can be made with a thumb support as needed, lengthen the case or leave it short. In turn, the adaptive hub serves as a means of replacing or supplementing the traditional keyboard.

Finally, four adaptive buttons are auxiliary for manipulators. They can be configured as separate navigation or function keys, and can also be used as a joystick. Microsoft plans to release a new line of accessories this fall for use with any Windows PC.
