Microsoft no longer enforces non-compete clauses in US contracts

Microsoft will no longer apply non-compete clauses defined in current employment contracts in the United States, in addition to having committed to conduct a 2023 audit of civil rights compliance with its labor policies.

The company said the changes to the application of non-compete clauses will not apply to the company’s senior leadership.

Microsoft added that the audit of its labor policies will be conducted by a third party and that a report will be published on the survey.

The company also intends to make salary ranges public on all internal and external job postings in the United States starting in January 2023. The company also said it will no longer include confidentiality terms in agreements with workers that prevent them from disclose conduct that they perceive to be illegal.

Microsoft said last week that it will not oppose efforts to unionize its employees.
