One of the main cyber -government units of the Russian government is developing malicious software against embassies and diplomatic delegations in Moscow, utilizing local internet service providers, Microsoft said today. The analysis confirms for the first time that Russia’s federal security agency, also known as FSB, is conducting cyberbacks at ISP level, according to Microsoft Threat Intelligence findings. “Microsoft is now sure that this activity is taking place within the Russian borders,” Microsoft’s threat strategic director Serd de Grippe told Reuters. Microsoft’s findings come amid Washington’s increasing pressure to Moscow to agree on a ceasefire in its war in Ukraine and NATO countries’ commitments to increase defense spending around their own concerns about Russia.
