Microsoft Store on PC will receive mod support and flexible work with folders

The information publication The Verge, citing its sources, reports that Microsoft will soon release a major update, which will allow PC gamers to install games from the Microsoft Store or Xbox Game Pass to any folder on their computer without access restrictions. Moreover, now PC gamers will be able to freely move already downloaded games to any folders or even to another disk at their discretion – previously it was difficult or even impossible. For a long time, the Microsoft Store has significantly limited players in their ability to work with folders, making it difficult to copy content or move it between folders.

Also, the developers from Microsoft shared news about the possibility of backing up game clients, the function of restoring and checking the integrity of files. At the moment, similar opportunities are available on the Steam or Battle.net platforms, which apparently inspired the company’s employees, plus an advanced tool for installing games should appear in the Microsoft Store – it will display free disk space, allow you to change the disk for a specific game and not only. These features are also reminiscent of the recent update on Steam, when Valve radically redesigned the content menu.

In addition, very soon, fans of custom modifications will be given a real gift – all (or almost all) games from the Microsoft Store will support the installation of mods. Previously in this digital store, they were already supported, but only in certain releases, and the installation was not as convenient as many would like. After the release of the update, users will have full access to the folders and files in them, so it will be much easier and faster to install modifications. Unfortunately, so far there is no exact release date for the update, but The Verge’s sources report that the update is currently in internal testing. As soon as all the problems are fixed, the store will immediately receive the above features.
