Microsoft will release an Xbox TV stick, and Samsung smart TV owners will be able to play Xbox games even without a console

Nearly a year and a half ago, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer revealed that “in the next 12 months” it will be possible to stream Xbox games to TV. The same was said again in June 2021 when Microsoft confirmed that the company would release the Smart TV app and the Xbox streaming device at the same time.

As reported by Venture Beat, Microsoft plans to release an Xbox device for cloud game streaming that will be ready in the next 12 months. This is reported by “people familiar with the matter”. The delays are related to supply chain restrictions caused by the situation in Ukraine and quarantines in China.

It is assumed that such a device will resemble either an Amazon Fire TV Stick or a compact Roku set-top box. This device allows you to stream movies and other content, as well as access cloud gaming through an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

Microsoft and Samsung are also reportedly working closely on the development of the streaming app, so Samsung Smart TV owners won’t even need to buy a dedicated device for the purpose. The application will also be launched within the next 12 months.
