Mietta and the fear that many have of vaccines

She is not a convinced No Vax, but in front of the vaccination she was afraid. The reaction told by Mietta in front of the vaccine is that of many other Italians. It is not an ideological position. But it leads to the same result: postpone or delay vaccination.

Mietta’s case dates back to October. The singer is part of the cast of Dancing with the stars, but she had to stop when she tested positive for Covid. The juror Wild Lucarelli opened the controversy by asking her if she was vaccinated or not. She said she didn’t do it for health reasons. Returning to the race, she explained the details in an interview with Fatto Quotidiano.

“I’ve never had a good relationship with drugs. If I have a toothache I keep it and so does the headache. When I thought about getting the vaccine, I found myself in a flood of information that came to me every day. For me, who suffer from panic attacks, it was something that upset me a lot, ”he explains.

He adds that he was afraid: «I was not serene and I was recovering from anaphylactic shock. I was out of breath. So I was just scared. The only way to reassure me would have been to do some investigations. Then I was also planning a intervention. But I repeat, they were and are personal things. People suffering from panic attacks need to be accompanied gently. I just wanted to wait my time because I had to face my tests to be calm and proceed with the vaccine ».

His words are the same that many others of those who have not yet vaccinated could have uttered. Almost 85% of the Italian population over 12 has received two doses of vaccines. In the 15% who have not yet been vaccinated there are the convinced antivaccinisti, those who believe in international conspiracies and have chosen not to get other vaccinations, but not only them.

An article published by Nature and reported by Corriere della Sera, Psychological characteristics associated with Covid-19 vaccine hesitancy and resistance in Ireland and the United KingdomPsychological characteristics associated with hesitation and resistance to Covid-19 vaccine in Ireland and Great Britain explains that among those who refused the vaccine in 2020 in Great Britain, around 30% of the vaccinable population, the most numerous were hesitant and doubtful, just 6% No Vax.

According to research, those who hesitate usually do not have a good relationship with official medicine and doctors, fear drugs and are afraid they will damage the body. They are those who choose alternative therapies, more concerned with the possible harm than with the benefit. It is not a choice born with Covid, it comes from previous experiences, from the way they grew up and lived. It is this part of the population that can be convinced with targeted campaigns.
