Mike Brock told on social media X that in 2020 he participated in a working meeting of the White House administration, which was attended by former US President Donald Trump and former Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin.
During the meeting, Trump advocated for a ban on the supply and circulation of digital assets, particularly Bitcoin, in the United States. However, the team of economists led by Mnuchin did not rush to implement his wishes in order to preserve America’s competitiveness and innovation.
“Trump tried to ban Bitcoin in 2020 until Steve Mnuchin and a bunch of people in the administration stood up to it. Trump doesn’t believe in anything but himself, and you’re wrong to assume he’s going to change his mind,” Brock said.
He added that Trump doesn’t care about Bitcoin because the presidential candidate “looked at a bunch of people he saw as an easy source of funds to win his own election marathon.”
Earlier, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin spoke out against voting for politicians who declare their support for cryptocurrencies. In his opinion, political candidates do not understand the meaning of blockchain and digital assets.
