Mike Pence and Kamala Harris spoke on the phone

Loutgoing vice-president Mike Pence and his successor Kamala Harris spoke Thursday (January 14) by phone, a close source told Agence France-Presse on Friday. This conversation marks a stark contrast to the relationship between Donald Trump and President-elect Joe Biden.

Five days before the inauguration, the outgoing president has still not congratulated the Democrat on his electoral victory. Donald Trump will leave Washington on Wednesday morning, without attending Joe Biden’s swearing-in. He will fly to his club in Mar-a-Lago in Florida, where he intends to settle.

Its vice-president Mike Pence must participate in this inauguration ceremony. Relations between Donald Trump and Mike Pence have deteriorated considerably since the Vice President confirmed on January 6 the victory of Democrat Joe Biden in the presidential election in November, in front of the two chambers united after the assault on Capitol Hill, which killed five people.
