Milan Fashion Week, everything you need to know

If the fashion weeks were changing and questioning their ways well before a year ago, after the arrival of the pandemic this process has been accelerated significantly: in recent months we have seen video game presentations, real fashion shows secretly recorded. and then unveiled in due course, but also film productions that catapulted us into new and surprising imaginaries. The key word is adaptation which, despite all the negative sides of this historical moment, stirs a not indifferent creativity and gives life to that curiosity that nourishes the enthusiasm towards fashion weeks: what to expect, therefore, for this new Milanese edition? Scheduled from February 23 to March 1, the fashion week will kick off with a tribute to Beppe Modenese, honorary president of Chamber of Italian Fashion passed away at the age of 92 on 21 November.

A tribute that will take the form of a short film shot by Beniamino Barrese, streaming on the CNMI digital platform at 10am on the first day.

Milan Fashion Week will include 68 fashion shows, 65 presentations – by appointment and not – and 7 events for one total of 140 appointments, the vast majority of which will take place in digital mode. The few shows that will take place in the presence, in collaboration with the health authorities, will respect clear guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and will host a limited number of professionals, including journalists and buyers. Physically parading on the catwalk, even if exclusively digitally, we find Prada, who will present the second collection conceived by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons on February 25, followed by Giorgio Armani, scheduled for February 27th. Thursday 1 March instead, Valentino will bring his collection to the stage live, although details are to be confirmed. However, for this Fall / Winter 2021-22 season, some of the big names of Milan Fashion Week will not be present – after Gucci e Bottega Veneta also Versace, which will unveil its collection on March 5 with a video – the week will be animated by some important news: Brunello Cucinelli will broadcast his live broadcast on 24 February latest collection from the splendid village of Solomeo, as well as its headquarters.

Two important debuts will take place on the same day, namely that of Kim Jones – the second, after the Haute Couture show in Paris – with his own first ready-to-wear collection for Fendi, is that of Fausto Puglisi for Roberto Cavalli. Among the new entries also Daniel Del Core, former Gucci designer, who will inaugurate his eponymous brand. It does not stop CNMI’s commitment to emerging talents through various initiatives, including the renewal of the collaboration with Rinascente, inaugurated last September, in support of young Made in Italy brands: in fact, a pop-up store will be set up in the historic store in Piazza Duomo with some of the most promising names in the national fashion scene, including Marco Rambaldi, Giannico, Sara Battaglia, Fantabody Vitelli, Gentile Catone, Themoirè, Simona Marziale – Mrz, Drome and Melampo. Another novelty will be the room dedicated to the enhancement of Italian training excellence, whose protagonist this time will be the Polimoda of Florence: the prestigious academy will present a Fashion Movie set in Florence, entitled Human Poetics. A particularly rich calendar to discover, that of Milan Fashion Week: WHO all events, from fashion shows to presentations.
