Mild fluctuations and turnover on the Stock Exchange

of Alexandra Tombra

The Athens Stock Exchange is moving slightly upwards today, but it is in the middle of the big Easter holidays, with trading activity not only reduced, but also significantly selective.

In particular, the General Index records gains of 0.19% at 920.68 points, while the turnover is at 6 million euros and the volume at 1.6 million units. The FTSE 25 also recorded an increase of 0.09%, to 2,229.49 points, while the banking index increased 0.04% to 641.26 points.

Mild fluctuations and turnover on the Stock Exchange

A week … of three days that started, rescheduled, today, as after the Easter holidays of the Catholics, come those of the Orthodox Easter. Thus, transactions will take place on Thursday, when investors will have to complete the restructuring of their portfolios in view of the planned assessment of the Greek economy by the S&P 500.

In such a context, the most likely scenario is for the market to accumulate at current levels, unless there is an unforeseen event, which no one rules out in “wartime”. Thus, any expectation from the optimists for a test of the 930-point zone will probably have to wait, with any purchasing forces consumed in maintaining the levels. After all, the close support is now in the zone of 900 points, which is almost 2% lower than the current ones.

Nevertheless, the ATHEX from the first minutes shows that it can become autonomous from the European fall, or even show more resilience. It is also the image with which the ATHEX was “re-introduced” to investors in the first weeks of the year and attracted several new funds.

Perhaps a maintenance of the levels will explain the most probable scenario with buyers having at this stage the first say in the trend base being more selective in stocks with high weight in shaping the general index.
