The President of Argentina, Javier Milei, and the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, promised to “defend Western freedoms” during a bilateral meeting at the Casa Rosada this Wednesday (20).
The leaders pledged mutual cooperation on key issues, including combating drug trafficking and money laundering, and expanding trade and investment.
Meloni highlighted three main points of his dialogue with Milei: political collaboration until 2030, the fight against illicit activities and the growth of bilateral trade and investment.
“President Milei and I share a political idea, and it is between two leaders who fight to defend Western freedom,” she said on her first official visit to Argentina.
Before meeting Milei, the prime minister paid tribute to Argentine national hero José de San Martin alongside Argentine Foreign Minister Gerardo Werthein.
Both were in Rio de Janeiro for the G20 Summit, the bloc that brings together the largest economies in the world.
