The president of Argentina, Javier Milei, did nothing that he would regret, said, this Wednesday (26), the spokesperson for the Argentine Presidency, Manuel Adorni, when asked about a statement by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), who conditioned a conversation between both presidents on an apology from Milei.
“It is within his wishes and we respect it, but the president (Milei) did not commit anything that he has to regret, at least for now”, said Adorni in a press conference when asked about Lula’s speech, given in an interview with the portal UOL.
Adorni said that Lula and Milei briefly met and greeted each other during the G7 summit in Italy, but that they did not hold a bilateral meeting.
“In the G7, with Lula, they didn’t talk bilaterally. They met, a casual meeting, they greeted each other casually, as two presidents of two nations should do, and there is not much more to say,” said the spokesperson.
In the interview with UOL, Lula said that he did not talk to Milei, an ally of former president Jair Bolsonaro, because he thinks he owes him a personal apology and to Brazil for having said “a lot of nonsense”.
Milei made a series of attacks on Lula during his campaign for the Presidency of Argentina, calling the Brazilian a communist, a thief and corrupt.
