Javier Milei’s government announced that the country’s public servants will need to pass a “suitability test” to continue in their positions. The exams will be carried out in December for 40 thousand employees, both temporary and permanent.
“This will happen in December, which is when temporary employee contracts expire. So, for them to be renewed, it will be necessary — without fail — to pass the exam”, said Casa Rosada spokesperson, Manuel Adorni, this Thursday (10).
According to Adorni, employee exams will be standardized and online, and will assess “very elementary points to carry out basic tasks”. People with disabilities will not need to take the tests until they are adapted for these employees.
Asked about the suitability criteria that will be evaluated, Adorni pointed out that they have not yet been defined. “There is joint work, between several areas. The exams will be coordinated with the University of Buenos Aires, and there will be around 2,000 exams per day. This is a methodology”, he stated.
Now, Casa Rosada highlights that, from 2025, any employee hired will need to pass these suitability exams. “This will be a normal and usual practice in the State, at least nationally, which is where we have interference”, guaranteed the spokesperson.
The Argentine government includes the measure in the range of actions of what it defines as “rationalization of the State”. During his term, Milei cut ten ministries and claims to have eliminated half of the government’s hierarchical positions and secretariats.
The recent announcement by Casa Rosada was repudiated by the general secretary of the State Workers’ Association (ATE), Rodolfo Aguiar.
“After 5, 10, 15 and even 20 years of work, will they want them to take a test? The test would have to be for the spokesperson”, wrote the secretary on the social network X.
The union leader also said that, if Adorni “and his hundreds of trolls” had taken a test, he would not have entered to “parasitize” the State.
