President Javier Milei addressed the United Nations General Assembly for the first time on Tuesday (24). In his speech before the other heads of state, the Argentine criticized the UN, saying that the organization “intends to decide how all the nations of the world should live”.
“We went from being an organization that pursued peace to an organization that imposes an ideological agenda on its members on various issues,” he criticized, stating that he was present at the event not to tell other countries how they should live, but to warn them about “what will happen if the United Nations continues to promote the collectivist policies that it has been promoting under the 2030 Agenda.”
The UN’s 2030 Agenda, which Milei questioned, establishes economic, social and environmental goals for countries. “The 2030 Agenda, despite its well-intentioned goals, is nothing more than a supranational government program of a socialist nature,” he accused.
He also questioned the entry into the UN Human Rights Council of countries such as Cuba and Venezuela, which he defined as “bloody dictatorships”.
“I am not a politician, I am a liberal libertarian economist who never had the ambition to be involved in politics and who was honored with the position of President of the Argentine Republic in the face of the enormous failure of more than a century of collectivist policies that destroyed our country,” he said, beginning his speech by criticizing the collectivist policies of the UN’s 2030 Agenda.
Milei also criticized quarantines during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, stating that this measure should be considered a “crime against humanity”.
