The president of Argentina, Javier Milei, spent his first night as head of state in a hotel near the central region of Buenos Aires.
He was already staying at the Libertador hotel before being elected president. In the same place, the president received representatives from other countries, including former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
Sources linked to the president of Argentina told CNN that Javier Milei does not want to stay at the official residence of the President of the Republic until the place undergoes renovations such as painting and adaptations so that he can take his four dogs: Murray, Lucas, Milton and Robert.
Until the renovation is completed, Milei will live at the hotel with the four animals.
“He loves his dogs, they are family to him. The president is not going to take them there without making adaptations,” he told CNN a member of the Presidency’s cabinet.
Javier Milei also told his office team that he intends to visit the official residence when the renovation is completed.
Quinta de Olivos
As in Brazil, the headquarters of the Argentine government administration is separate from the official residence of the President of the Republic.
The residence is not that far from the administrative palace.
The administrative headquarters is Casa Rosada, located in Plaza de Mayo, downtown Buenos Aires. The Casa Rosada is equivalent to the Palácio do Planalto, in Brasília.
The president’s residence is Quinta de Olivos, located in Olivos, a suburb of the capital.
The property covers 32 hectares and is 14 km from Casa Rosada. Quinta de Olivos is the equivalent of Palácio da Alvorada in Brazil, where President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva currently lives.
During the inauguration ceremony, the new president of Argentina received a scepter, an Argentine tradition during the ceremony.
Milei’s scepter was stylized with engravings of her five dogs: Milton, Murray, Robert and Lucas, plus Conan, who passed away in 2017.
Conan was adopted in 2004 and later cloned.
After cloning, Murray, Milton, Robert and Lucas emerged, named after Milei’s economist idols, such as Milton Friedman.
Milei’s adoration for her dogs is remarkable. He used a medium to talk to them and called them “the best strategists in the world” during his election campaign.
