There is independence, feminism, pain. Flowers is the new single from the American pop star Miley Cyrus, the first after two years of silence. In the song Bruno Mars tells about a finished loveof a man who reproaches himself for not having understood the needs of his relationship and of his partner, who is now in the arms of another man: «Too young, too dumb to realize/ That I should have bought you flowers / And held your hand» lit. Too young, too stupid to understand that I should have bought you flowers and held your hand. At this step Miley Cyrus responds with a cry to her independence, while, in the video clip, he walks up a hill wearing sunglasses and a golden dress. «I can buy myself flowers/ Write my name in the sand/ Talk to myself for hours/ Say things you don’t understand/ I can take myself dancing/ And I can hold my own hand/ Yeah, I can love me better than you can» lit. I can buy myself flowers, write my name in the sand, talk to myself for hours, say things you wouldn’t understand. I can take me dancing and shake hands. I can love myself better than you can.

A verse of the song seems to allude to theirs Malibu house («Built a home and watched it burn» lit. We built a house and watched it burn), which burned down in the Woolsey fires of 2018. In an old interview Cyrus said that the loss of their home was one of the reasons that convinced them to get married.

In the video clip, at the end of the climb, Miley Cyrus arrives in a villa, where she undresses, dances and exercises. The meaning may be that the singer is trying to do everything possible to find her mental and physical well-being, but there’s more. The beautiful house where Miley Cyrus filmed almost the entire musical video would be the same where Hemsworth he was cheating on her with “14 women”. The claim, for the moment, was born online and has not received confirmation.

Finally, he enters the villa, takes a shower, puts on a black suit and does a free dance on the roof of the house.
