Singer Miley Cyrus, 30, opened her heart when talking about her friendship with former Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died in 2022.
In yet another TikTok video to promote her new work, “I Used to Be Young”, Cyrus revealed that she lived in the same neighborhood as Hawkins during the Covid-19 pandemic and their ties grew closer.
“We became really close [na pandemia]. I would go to his house, he would teach me all of Chrissie Hynde’s songs on the drums. I would go there and play Pretenders with him every night, he would make me dance with those wireless headphones while he sang along to ‘Brass in Pocket’,” he said.
The global pop star also shared that Hawkins was the first person she called after the plane she was on made an emergency landing after being struck by lightning. Cyrus was on her way to Lollapalooza in Brazil.
“The next day, I woke up to the news that he had passed away,” he said. Hawkins died on March 25, 2022, in Colombia. Four days later, Cyrus performed at Lollapalooza and dedicated her song “Angels Like You” to her friend.
“I knew that he, of all people, would still want me to perform despite the pain,” concluded the singer.
