After the success of “Flowers”, the flagship of the new work, Miley Cyrus released their eighth studio album, “Endless Summer Vacation”, on the night of this Thursday (9). In just 14 minutes, the disc reached the top of iTunes in the United States.
With 13 tracks, including a demo version of the single “Flowers”, the new material was conceived in two acts: “AM”, which represents the morning period, and “PM”, the night period.
“O [lado] AM to me is representing the time in the morning when there’s that excitement and energy, that there’s potential for possibilities – it’s a new day,” said the singer in a video posted on social media.
“And the period of the night, where it feels like there’s something hidden, decadent and kind of dirty, but there’s a glamor at the same time. It’s a great time to rest or get out and experience that wild side,” she concluded.
While the lyrics narrate different episodes that the singer has lived through the years, the rhythms mix between pop, disco, rock, country and other sounds.
“Thousand Miles”, a partnership with Brandi Carlile, was written between 2016 and 2017, when he was working on the country album “Younger Now”.
The lyrics were inspired by one of the best friends who lost her brother to suicide. “I couldn’t imagine my life without my sister [Noah Cyrus], so I wrote this song for her”, wrote the artist in a note on Spotify. The result, however, was very different from the first versions.
“River” arrives as the second single from the album and starts the night phase of the project. Accompanied by a black and white clip and, despite talking about a love that “flows like a river”, it represents a difficult moment.
“I was going through a lot of emotional and personal issues,” says the note on Spotify. “This song evolves like a problem and was born after a party to the sounds of Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and “all the legends”.
In addition to the clip, Miley Cyrus also released a special shown on Disney + in which she sings some songs from the new album and revisits some hits, such as “The Climb”, in addition to an interview about the process of the album. “Endless Summer Vacation: Backyard Sessions” is available on the platform for subscribers.
To celebrate, Miley gave a launch party in Los Angeles (USA) which was attended by Paris Hilton, Shawn Mendes, Sabrina Carpenter, her boyfriend Maxx Morando and other celebrities.
