This Sunday (04), Miley Cyrus won her first two Grammys, during the awards ceremony that took place in Los Angeles. With the hit “Flowers” the singer took home the awards for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
Mariah Carey gave her the first statuette and Meryl Streep and Mark Ronson the second. In total, the artist competed in six categories for the award, including the main Album of the Year and Song of the Year.
The first single from the album released in March last year, “Flowers” was very successful with the public and generated criticism since its release. With just one week of release, the smash hit became the most played song in Spotify history in record time: 100 million streams in just 7 days.
The song, which is focused on the relationship she had with Liam Hemsworth, also talks about self-love and emotional independence. In the lyrics, Miley sings that she doesn't need someone to receive flowers, go dancing, among other things – on the contrary, she can do it all alone. And it was with this song that she took home her first Grammys.
The singer also performed the song during the ceremony and in addition to dancing a lot, she provoked the audience by saying: “Why are you acting like you don't know this song?” Exuding happiness, she also celebrated her achievement during the performance: “I just won my first Grammy!” See an excerpt below:
