Military continues to search for missing journalist and indigenist in the Amazon

The Military Command of the Amazon, based in Manaus, released on Tuesday (7) images of the searches by Brazilian indigenist Bruno Araújo and by English journalist Dom Phillips. Both disappeared on Sunday (5), in Vale do Javari, in the interior of the state of Amazonas. So far, there has been no progress.

The work is being carried out by military jungle fighters from the 16th Infantry Brigade of Selva, from Tefé, which has the means to act in the Javari region.

They began the search on Monday, after the information of the disappearance of the two men, and has been counting on the help of speedboats due to the stones at the bottom of the rivers, and the searches are focused on two rivers, the Javari and Itaquaí.

In addition, the Army uses ground patrol along the only highway from Atalaia, and from Benjamin Constant to Atalaia do Norte. There, there is the 4th Army Airplane Battalion with helicopters supporting the movement of federal agents, and other servers that also participate in the searches.

The Brazilian Army still has a Jungle Infantry Battalion and a Military Hospital in the city of Tabatinga/AM, in addition to two Special Border Platoons in the regions of Palmeiras do Javari and Estirão do Ecuador.
